Goal

Provide a forum for development of hints and tips that will assist Lodge Leaders in enhancing the image of the Lodge to members, non-members, and the Council

Specific Objectives of the Session

To achieve an improved understanding of the purpose of the Order of the Arrow.

To understand how lodges communicate the purpose of the order to entering members.

To understand how methods of communication can be improved to heighten the experience which new members enjoy.

Session Narrative

Establishing Questions:

Open discussion on the purpose of the order.

Discuss official purpose statement.

To recognize those campers--Scouts and Scouters--who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and by such recognition cause other campers to conduct themselves in a manner as to warrant recognition.

To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit.

To promote Scout camping, which reaches its greatest effectiveness as a part of the unit's camping program, both year-round and in the summer camp, as directed by the camping committee of the council.

To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.

Open discussion on how the purpose of the Order is communicated on the local level to lodge members.
