Moonfalls Trail #1423 Umpqua Nat. Forest/Cottage Grove Dist.
This short trail begins on a dirt road and ends at the base of Moonfalls. Moonfalls itself cascades 125'. This fall is a real torrent in the spring and gradually reduces to a lacy cascade as the summer progresses. The base of the falls has a picnic table for a short lunch or break. The trail winds through some beautiful old growth near the end.
| Access: | From Cottage Grove Ranger Station, take Row River Road #2400 (towards Dorena Reservoir) east 17 miles to Laying Creek Road # 17. Follow this 8.8 miles to road # 1790 and turn right. Follow this for ¼ mile to road #1702. Turn left and follow this for 2.8 miles to road #1702-728. Turn right and continue for 0.3 miles, turning left on spur road #1702-203 and continue to the end. The Moonfalls Trail begins at the water bar and continues to follow this spur to the end. |
